MICROSOFT COPILOT IN EXCEL
Copilot in Excel Training
Use Copilot in Excel to work through real business tasks: understand formulas, explore data, edit workbooks, build reports and validate AI-generated results.

Why Copilot in Excel
Start with the task. Use Copilot in Excel where it helps.
- Business task
- Excel
- Copilot in Excel
- Human validation
- Business output
Excel remains the working environment. AI can support the thinking around a workbook: explaining a formula, suggesting an approach to analysis or helping document a repeatable process.
Knowing the data and the question still comes first.
The training focuses on Microsoft Copilot in Excel, with relevant Microsoft 365 workflows as supporting context.
Participants learn how to give useful context, review suggestions and recognize when a response needs more checking—or should not be used.
What participants learn
Skills connected to the work your team does
Copilot in Excel fundamentals
Understand where Microsoft Copilot fits in an Excel workflow, what context it needs and how to review proposed changes.
Better questions about data
Turn a business question into a clear request, state assumptions and check whether the response answers the question.
Formula support and troubleshooting
Work through formula explanations and suggested improvements. Check references, logic and results against known cases.
Structured data and analysis
Prepare consistent tables, explore possible patterns and distinguish a useful finding from an unsupported interpretation.
Power Query and repeatable workflows
Use AI assistance to reason through transformation steps or draft documentation, then verify the process in Power Query.
From Excel analysis to reporting
Excel analysis remains the starting point. Where relevant and available, Microsoft Copilot in Word, PowerPoint or Teams can support a written summary or presentation.
Validation runs through every area: compare results with the source, inspect calculations and decide what can safely be shared.
Practical scenarios
Work through real examples. Then validate the output.
Explain a complex formula, identify its assumptions and test a suggested alternative.
Explore a dataset for patterns or unusual values, then check those observations against the underlying records.
Prepare a management summary from Excel results without losing the context or limitations of the analysis.
Review a Power Query workflow and draft clear notes about its inputs, transformations and update steps.
Move from an Excel analysis to a written summary or presentation around the same business task.
These are illustrative training scenarios, not a guarantee that every task is supported by every product or license.
Exercises are selected around the Microsoft 365 apps, Microsoft Copilot access and company settings available to the group.
Who it is for
Teams that already use Excel in their work
Finance, controlling, HR, sales, operations, procurement and analyst teams can use the same principles with different work questions.
The starting point is how participants currently use Excel and what they need to do more reliably.
The training can be adapted to different levels.
For a stronger grounding in tables, formulas and reports, explore Excel Foundations.
For independent users working with Power Query and more complex analysis, see Advanced Excel.
Course format
Built around the group, not a fixed script
Live training is planned around the team’s level, available time, business context and everyday workflows.
Topics, exercises, group size, duration and delivery arrangements are agreed during the initial discussion.
Company examples or datasets can be considered where appropriate and permitted. We agree what may be used before working with it, taking account of the organization’s data-handling rules.
Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot access and the features needed for the chosen exercises are checked in advance.
This is part of the wider Training offer, rather than a self-paced video course.
Excel skills still matter
AI can suggest an answer. You need to judge it.
AI does not remove the need to understand Excel. A plausible formula can still reference the wrong cells. A polished summary can miss an important qualification. A useful-looking chart can answer the wrong question.
Understand the source data and its limitations.
Validate formulas and transformations with known examples.
Choose an analysis that fits the business question.
Interpret the result before using or sharing it.
The aim is a more informed way to use Copilot in Excel, with human review built into the workflow.
